The new global headquarters for Deckers, the company that makes Uggs, Tevas, Sanuk and other footwear, has earned the company a LEED® Silver Certification.
Deckers Outdoor Corp. built a 190,000-square-foot ground up complex of four buildings in Goleta, California, outside Santa Barbara.
The headquarters made of recycled building materials has parking spaces reserved for energy-efficient cars and power stations for electric vehicles. It has a bike storage area with showers and changing facilities for employees and environmentally friendly irrigation and water drainage systems and energy efficient lighting and mechanical systems.
The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts project is as old as ARC with its inception back in 2006. Now after years of design and construction that dream is a reality. ARC principals Hisham Barakat and TK Wong proudly attended the dedication ceremony where the historical building opened its doors and embraced the new structure. Title-24, California’s energy code in part governing energy efficiency of installed lighting, is changing effective January 1, 2014. I have prepared the linked pdf below highlighting the major changes to the interior lighting code and how space design and installation will change to accommodate the new code. Some of the revisions are dramatic and this will directly affect every project’s design and budget.
