CSUCI Student Union Renovation
In 2006, CSUCI students passed a referendum to fund, through fee increases, the design, construction and operation of the new $9.6 million, 25,000 sq. ft. Student Union Center. ARC Engineering was enlisted for MEP services and work also began on renovations and upgrades in the historic Bell Tower building.
An existing 2-story addition to the Bell Tower, dating back to the era when the campus functioned as a state hospital, was expanded and transformed into the new CSUCI Student Center. The original site lacked existing drawings and comprehensive system upgrades were necessary.
The vibrant center for student life at CSUCI features a café with multipurpose dining and event area, lounge and study area, courtyard, and game room. ARC teamed with DLR Group WWCOT architects on the renovation, which was completed in 2010.
