Morley
Morley Construction Company is one of the largest Southern California-based general contractors, specializing in Type I and Type II projects built primarily of reinforced concrete and steel. The company builds major civic structures; educational and research facilities; parking structures; commercial, retail, medical and healthcare buildings; and multifamily residential complexes. Additionally, Morley is experienced in design-build, -seismic strengthening, preservation, modernization and LEED® rated/sustainable projects.
ARC came on board early in the new Morley headquarters project and was even involved in the initial selection of sites, touring 5 buildings and offering pros and cons on each until the decision was made to move to Santa Monica Business Park. Notable was ARC’s collaboration with a client, who was also the contractor, and thorough research and communication went into every design decision and as in many Southern California installations, a full seismic retrofit was required.
In the process, ARC helped Morley re-imagine a former warehouse into a gorgeous structure befitting a renowned and venerable construction firm. The design incorporates exposed mechanical elements that show samples of work that Morley utilizes in their construction.
Ultimately, ARC’s initial design decisions bore tremendously successful fruit, and as a result, ARC was trusted very highly in the multitude of design consultations that were required on the project. This beautiful space designed by HOK and with design management by CBRE is a well conceived and smoothly operating facility.
