Lab:
Belkin
In reimagining their new corporate headquarters in Playa Vista, CA, Belkin, the global leader in connectivity solutions, aimed to create an environment that would promote cross-functional collaboration, creativity, and work-life balance. ARC Engineering provided the fundamental designs, development, and implementation of the complex and heavily used MEP systems needed to make that vision a reality.
The diversity of the project, from state-of-the art lab systems to the high-end aesthetics of the office, marketing and conference spaces necessitated comprehensive changes to the base building, as well as thorough interpretation and understanding of the various lab programmers needs. ARC worked closely with Belkin to develop the supplemental requirements for the new headquarters and coordinated with Gensler, Studley Project Management and Howard Building Corp towards their successful implementation.
The LEED-Gold certified Belkin HQ totals 150,000 sq feet, with 80,000 dedicated to office space with an open ceiling design, private and exterior offices and conference rooms as well as a 7,000 sq ft. cafeteria and catering kitchen. Via an interconnecting deck, the main 34,000 sq ft. laboratory features compressed air, 24/7 HVAC for all electronic and prototype lab spaces, an LN2 distribution system for painting spray booths, and the CNC laboratory contains methane burners and detection. Initial planning commenced early in 2008 and the new headquarters were completed mid-2010.
